Community Guidelines

NU Sublets works best when Northwestern students use it honestly, thoughtfully, and with respect for one another. These guidelines explain the behavior expected when posting, browsing, and communicating about sublet listings.

Post responsibly

  • Post only one active sublet listing at a time.
  • Share accurate and truthful listing information, including price, dates, location, amenities, and availability.
  • Do not post fake, duplicate, misleading, or scam listings.
  • Do not upload inappropriate, irrelevant, edited, or misleading photos.
  • Mark your listing as unavailable or delete it once it is no longer active.

Use your account honestly

  • Use your Northwestern email or account for your own activity only.
  • Do not pretend to be another person or use another student's information without permission.
  • Do not share another person's private information, contact details, photos, lease documents, or housing situation without their consent.

Communicate with respect

  • Keep messages respectful, professional, and relevant to the listing.
  • Respond honestly about availability, costs, roommates, policies, and next steps.
  • Report suspicious, inappropriate, or unsafe listings or behavior when you see it.

Know your responsibilities

Users are responsible for following any lease, landlord, building, local, and university housing policies that apply to their situation. NU Sublets helps connect students, but it does not provide legal, financial, housing, or safety advice and is not a party to any rental or sublet agreement.
